A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth.
A ‘complete’ or ‘full’ denture, replaces all the natural teeth in the upper or lower jaw. They are held in place by suction. It is also possible to support the removable dentures with implants. There are many different kinds of solutions to connect the denture to implants. Two or four implants can be used to stabilize the denture and this method can be good for patients with severe bone loss as well.
A ‘partial’ denture fills the gaps left by lost or missing teeth. It usually consists of replacement teeth attached to a gum-coloured plastic base. A partial denture may have a metal framework and claps that connect to your teeth. In some cases, crowns are needed on some natural teeth to improve the fit of the partial denture.
Dentures are affordable solutions with minimal risk and in some cases the only possible alternative.
